Who are you, and what do you build?

I'm Hrishikesh Patel, a full-stack software engineer based in Gujarat, India, with 3+ years of production experience building Python backends (FastAPI, Flask), React/Next.js/Angular frontends, and AI-enabled features such as RAG chatbots. I currently work full-time in a full-stack engineering role, and I take on select freelance and contract projects alongside that.

What services do you offer?

Alongside my full-time engineering work, I take on select freelance and contract projects: full-stack product development (startup MVPs through to full builds), backend and REST API development with Python (FastAPI, Flask) and Node.js, frontend development with React, Next.js, and Angular, RAG pipeline development, and AI feature integration using the OpenAI API and vector databases like Qdrant and pgvector. I also take on legacy Angular and React modernization.

Can you build an MVP for a startup?

Yes. I build startup MVPs end to end — from API design and data modeling through a polished React or Next.js frontend to deployment. My backend-first approach (FastAPI/Flask with a clean service layer and SOLID principles) keeps the codebase maintainable as the product grows, so the MVP becomes a foundation to build on rather than throwaway code.

Do you build RAG chatbots and AI features?

Yes. RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) and AI feature development is one of my core services. I build RAG pipelines end to end — document ingestion, chunking, embeddings, and vector search with Qdrant or pgvector — and ground LLM responses through the OpenAI API with citations and fallbacks for production use. Examples include a production RAG chatbot and EigenTalk, a RAG-powered research assistant with a Next.js frontend.

Do you offer backend and REST API development?

Yes. I design and ship production REST APIs with Python (FastAPI, Flask) and Node.js — including request validation, error handling, scalable SQL schema design (PostgreSQL, MySQL), and containerized deployment via GitHub Actions CI/CD to Azure. Backend and API design is my strongest area.

Can you modernize a legacy Angular or React codebase?

Yes. Legacy modernization is a service I offer. On Envizom I upgraded a legacy Angular codebase to the latest version, refactored it to type-safe TypeScript patterns, and added code splitting and lazy loading — while shipping 12+ features and resolving several bugs.

How do you work with freelance clients?

Each engagement starts by scoping the problem and agreeing on the API contract before any UI is built, then backend, then frontend, then deployment through CI/CD with iteration on real usage. I work remotely with teams worldwide from Gujarat, India (IST) and am comfortable with async, distributed collaboration. Both fixed-scope projects and ongoing contract work are available.
