Analytics & cookies

This site runs two layers of analytics with very different privacy profiles:

• Cookieless, privacy-friendly analytics run for every visitor. They set no cookies, store no cross-visit identifier, and collect no personal data — only aggregate, anonymous metrics like page views, referrers, and performance data. Because nothing personal is collected, these require no consent under GDPR and keep working whether you accept or decline cookies.
• Cookie-based analytics loads only after you explicitly accept via the cookie banner. If you decline, it is never loaded and no analytics cookies are stored.

When enabled, cookie-based analytics sets a first-party cookie to distinguish unique visits. IP addresses are anonymized and no personally identifying information is sent in events. The cookieless analytics above continue to run in both cases.

A CRM tracking script (HubSpot) loads under this same cookie-based bullet — only after you accept, never before. It sets its own first-party cookies (e.g. hubspotutk) to recognize repeat visits.

Traffic source tracking

This site stores a small attribution record in your browser's local storage (not a cookie) — the traffic source of your first visit (e.g. “LinkedIn”, “Google Search”, “Direct”), any UTM parameters, the referring URL, and the page you landed on. It is derived only from the URL and referrer of your visit — no fingerprinting or cross-site tracking is used. This record is used to attribute contact-form enquiries to a source and, once cookie-based analytics is enabled, to segment traffic in reports.

The contact form

When you submit the contact form, the name, email, subject, and message you provide are sent via a transactional email service to an inbox I check, and stored as a contact record in HubSpot, the CRM I use to keep track of enquiries. This data is used solely to manage and respond to your enquiry — it is never sold, and never used for marketing without your separate, explicit consent. HubSpot processes data under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses, HubSpot's safeguards for transferring data outside the EU. If a traffic source was captured for your visit (see above), it is included in the notification email and the CRM record as context on how you found the site.

If analytics is enabled, a non-identifying generate_lead event is recorded to count successful submissions. It does not include the contents of your message.
